In an attempt to woo healthcare professionals to their state, the Illinois government raised the hourly wage to $9.35 for homecare workers in 2007. But it wasn’t just home health aides affected by the raise – healthcare workers across the board have seen their salaries increase. The state government has been steadily increasing funds toward employment in the healthcare sector since 2005 as well as creating programs to address specific shortages in nursing and continuing education.
